SEO Tags Use Them to Rank Better

Tags are very important in search engine optimisation. How you do your title tags, meta tags, heading tags, etc., all make a huge difference on whether your website would rank better or not. Here’s a crash course on just how important tags are to SEO, and how you can use them to rank better organically.

Title Tags

This tag is the “title” of your web page, such as when someone decides to bookmark your page, the “title tag” is what it is saved as. It’s important to be conscious of the fact that whatever text you put in this tag is what appears in the reverse bar of your visitors’ browser when they look at your web page.

If you want to rank better, keep your title tags short and straight to the point. Do not go over 65 characters, and always use the most important words first. Make sure that each of your pages has a unique title tag.

Heading Tags (called H1, H2, H3, and so on)

Heading tags show the important sections of your content, much like the index or table of contents of a magazine or a book. If you want to rank better organically then you have to write your heading tags so that they help search engines like Google and Yahoo differentiate your content and sort out the importance of each section.

Here’s an example.

H1 = Chapter Heading
H2= Section Heading
H3 = Paragraph Heading

If you were to write a page about computers and software, it makes sense to use the following heading tags:

<h1>Computers and Software</h1>
<p>important text here</p>

< h2>Computer Accessories</h2>
<p>text about different Computer Accessories </p>

…<h3> Computer Cables And Adapters</h3>
…<p>text about Computer Cables And Adapters</p>

…<h3> Computer Power Supplies</h3>
…<p>text about Computer Power Supplies</p>
